How to Connect Your Social Profiles to Later

Get started with Later by connecting all your social profiles. In this guide, you will learn how to connect each of your social profiles to your Later account.

You can connect to the following social platforms through Later on the web:

• Instagram
• Facebook
• Twitter
• Pinterest
• LinkedIn
• TikTok

Social Sets and Access Groups

You will find that we’re going to be frequently visiting a section in your account settings called Social Sets & Access Groups.

Here’s a brief introduction to what Social Sets and Access Groups are.

Access Groups

You can easily manage all your clients and social accounts within one Later account. This is because Later has a feature called Access Groups. Later Access Groups help you manage access to your photos, videos, and social profiles within Later. Depending on your account, you can have multiple Media Libraries, so you won’t have to share your media items with all your social profiles and users.

Use Access Groups to manage who has access to your Social Sets, photos, and videos. You can also manage multiple Social Sets, Media Libraries, and users from one Access Group.

Social Sets

Use Social Sets to organize your social profiles based on brand or identity. A Social Set is a set of one of each of the following social profiles:

• Instagram
• Facebook
• Twitter
• Pinterest
• LinkedIn
• TikTok

You can have an unlimited number of Social Sets, but one Social Set can’t contain more than one profile from the social platform. For example, you cannot manage two Instagram profiles within one Social Set, but you can manage a maximum of one Instagram profile within one Social Set.

But your first step before scheduling and publishing, is connecting your social media profile! Keep reading to learn how to connect your different social profiles to Later.

Add an Instagram Profile

When you connect a Personal, Creator or Business Instagram account to Later you can publish the following post types: single image and multi-image posts, video posts, and Instagram Stories.

Here’s how to add your Instagram profile to your Later Social Sets!

1. First, ensure that you’re signed in to the Instagram profile you’d like to connect to Later on your desktop.
2. Then sign in to Later on the web, and navigate to Social Sets & Access Groups.
3. Click Edit next to the Access Group you want to add a social profile to.
4. Click Add Social Profile
5. Select the empty Instagram social profile slot from your current Social Set or a new Social Set.
6. Click Add Social Profile at the bottom.
7. Follow the login prompts to sign in.
1. A pop-up from Instagram will appear - If you are already logged into your account, this page displays a card with the following information: profile picture, account name, and a continue button.
8. Click the continue button to authorize your connection to Later.

Once you authorize Later’s connection to your Instagram profile, your profile will display in the Social Set that you add it to.

Add a Public Facebook Page

When you connect a Facebook Page to Later you can publish the following post types: single image posts and multi-image posts, video posts, and text posts

Keep reading to learn how to add a public Facebook Page!

1. Through Later on the web, go to Social Sets & Access Groups.
2. Click Edit next to the Access Group you want to add a social profile to.
3. Click Add Social Profile.
4. Select the empty Facebook Page profile slot from your current Social Set or a new Social Set.
5. Click Add Social Profile at the bottom.
1. A pop-up from Facebook will appear. Sign in to your personal Facebook account and grant Later access to Facebook.
6. A list of the Facebook pages of which you’re an Admin of will appear. Select the Facebook Page that you’d like to connect to Later.

Once you authorize Later’s connection to your Facebook Page, your profile will display in the Social Set that you add it to.

Add a Twitter Profile

When you connect a Twitter Profile to Later you can publish the following post types: single image posts and multi-image posts, video posts, GIF posts, and text posts.

Here’s how to add a Twitter Profile!

1. Through Later on the web, go to Social Sets & Access Groups.
2. Click Edit next to the Access Group you want to add a social profile to.
3. Click Add Social Profile.
4. Select the empty Twitter profile slot from your current Social Set or a new Social Set.
5. Click Add Social Profile at the bottom.
1. This action opens Twitter’s authorization page for LaterMedia.
6. When prompted, sign in to the Twitter account you’d like to add
1. This action will redirect you to Later’s Social Sets & Access Groups page.

Once you authorize Later’s connection to your Twitter profile, your profile will display in the Social Set that you add it to.

Add a Pinterest Profile

When you connect a Pinterest profile to Later you can publish the following post types: image posts and video posts.

Here’s how to add a Pinterest Profile!

1. Through Later on the web, go to Social Sets & Access Groups.
2. Click Edit next to the Access Group you want to add a social profile to.
3. Click Add Social Profile.
4. Select the empty Pinterest profile slot from your current Social Set or a new Social Set.
5. Click Add Social Profile at the bottom.
1. A pop-up from Pinterest will appear where you can authorize Later’s access.
6. Review the application terms to understand how Later uses your Pinterest account’s information.
7. Click Give access to authorize Later’s connection to your Pinterest profile.

Once you authorize Later’s connection to your Pinterest profile, your profile will display in the Social Set that you add it to.

Add a LinkedIn Profile or Page

When you connect a LinkedIn Personal Profile to Later you can publish the single image posts and text posts. When you connect a LinkedIn Company and Organization page to Later, you can also publish video posts.

Here’s how to add a LinkedIn Profile!

1. Through Later on the web, go to Social Sets & Access Groups.
2. Click Edit next to the Access Group you want to add a social profile to.
3. Click Add Social Profile.
4. Select the empty LinkedIn social profile slot from your current Social Set or a new Social Set.
5. Click Add Social Profile at the bottom.
1. A pop-up from LinkedIn will appear where you can authorize Later’s access.
6. Select the Profile or Page that you want to connect to.
7. Review the application terms to understand how Later uses your LinkedIn profile.
8. Once you authorize Later’s connection to your LinkedIn profile or page, your profile will display in the Social Set that you add it to.

Add a TikTok Profile through Content Calendar

Later is improving our connection to TikTok and this allows us to verify when your videos publish through Later. These are the two methods to add a TikTok profile to your Later profile:

• Through your Content Calendar
• Through your Settings

Add a TikTok Profile through Content Calendar

Here’s how to connect your Public TikTok account to your Later account through Settings:

1. Through Later on the web, click Settings the + button at the top of your Calendar to add a social profile.

This action authorizes Later’s connection to your TikTok account.

Add a TikTok Profile through Social Sets & Access Groups

Here’s how to connect your Public TikTok account to you Later account through the Calendar view:

1. Open TikTok.com in another tab in your web browser and make sure you are logged out of all TikTok profiles.
2. Go to your Social Sets and Access Groups page to add your TikTok profile.
3. You will be directed to the TikTok API to log in - we recommend using the QR Code method to connect this profile.

If you have more than one TikTok profile that you manage, make sure you have the correct TikTok profile open on the TikTok app when using the QR code method.

Once you connect to social networks like Facebook and Instagram through Later, you're able to publish posts, view collected content, access analytics, and more. Your connection to Later will sometimes expire and this helps keep your accounts secure.

Important:

• Only the Later account owner can refresh a social profile connection.
• If you're a user on an account with an expired connection, please ask the account owner to refresh the connection.
• When your connection expires, you won’t be able to use some features within Later until you refresh your connection.
• When your connection expires, Later cannot continue to collect Analytics, this will result in missing analytics data for the time between refreshing your profile.
• If your connection expires, you’ll need to refresh it so you can continue using the features that rely on this connection!

Refresh Facebook or Instagram Connections

Before you proceed with refreshing your Facebook and Instagram connections remember the following:

• If you’re refreshing the connection for an Instagram business profile, you’ll need to log in to the Facebook profile linked to your Instagram business profile.
• Your Facebook profile must be an Admin of the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram business profile.

Here’s how to refresh your Facebook and Instagram connections:

1. Access Settings through Later on the web.
2. Click Social Sets & Access Groups.
3. Find the Access Group with the Facebook or Instagram profile that you need to refresh.
4. Click the Refresh button beside the social profile.
5. When prompted Enter your username and password for your social profile in the pop-up window.

Important: If a pop-up does not appear, make sure to turn off any pop-up blockers before refreshing your connection.

Refresh Twitter Connection

Here’s how to refresh your Twitter Connection:

1. Access Settings through Later on the web.
2. Click Social Sets & Access Groups.
3. Find the Access Group with the Twitter account that you need to refresh.
4. Click Refresh beside your Twitter social profile.
1. This action redirects you to the Twitter Authorization page.
5. Enter your Twitter handle or email and your password.

Now, you’ve successfully refreshed your Twitter connection!

Refresh Pinterest Connection

Here’s how to refresh your Pinterest Connection:

1. Access Settings through Later on the web.
2. Click Social Sets & Access Groups.
3. Find the Access Group with the Pinterest account that you need to refresh.
4. Click Refresh beside your Pinterest account.
1. This action redirects you to the Pinterest Authorization page.
5. Click Give access to refresh your Later account’s connection to Pinterest.

Refreshing Linkedin Connection

1. Access Settings through Later on the web.
2. Click Sets & Access Groups.
3. Find the Access Group with the LinkedIn account that you need to refresh.
4. Click Refresh beside your Linkedin account.
1. This action redirects you to the Linkedin Authorization page.
5. Click Give access to refresh your Later account’s connection to LinkedIn.

Once you connect your selected social profiles you will want to begin uploading media, and schedule your text and media posts for Auto-Publishing or Notification Publishing.

Important:

• You can add or remove any social profiles from Later on the web.
• You can only add or remove Instagram profiles and Facebook Pages on mobile.
• Only the Later Account Owner can add or remove social profiles.
• To manage more social profiles per platform (more than 1 Instagram, 1 Facebook) per platform, upgrade your Later plan to include more social sets.
