Scrubbing

"Scrubbing" is a term used in video playback that refers to the ability to quickly navigate through a video by dragging a slider or timeline bar back and forth. Scrubbing is a convenient feature that allows users to quickly navigate through videos and find the content they are looking for. This feature is commonly used in online video players such as YouTube, Vimeo, and other streaming services.  

When a user scrubs a video, they can quickly jump to a specific point in the video without having to watch the entire thing. This is useful for finding a particular scene or moment in a longer video, or for quickly reviewing content that the user has already watched.

The scrubbing feature is made possible by the way video files are encoded and stored. Video files are broken up into frames, which are individual images that are played in sequence to create the illusion of motion. By allowing users to scrub through the video, the video player is simply jumping to different frames in the video file.
